Ok, due to people asking for other payment methods, issues with overseas payments, and the fact the Amazon isn't discounting the book, I've decided to go ahead and set up a Paypal account to take payments, and to make more of an effort to sell my books directly - because heck, I can now afford to offer a bigger discount than Amazon is on Treasure...
I am behind on responding to a handful of e-mail requests - mainly because I wanted to respond with more than "Hi, thx, got it, I'll get back to you." So, bear with me, have patience, we're getting there.
The times they are a changin', and we just have to be flexible. This Amazon thing is probably going to change my business model somewhat - lol. Barbara and I were laughing today about a post she did a while back on her blog about how she's weirder than many people because she likes to be an entrepeneur and swing from chandeliers without a net. Well, we figured out that when it comes to the publsihing stuff, what she's doing is tossing me into the water or other dangerous substances below her as a trained shark locator (bait...) while she swings safely above... I'm several years ahead of her in this whole publishing thing; so essentially she's learning from my mistakes. I get to go and hack new trails through the wilderness, and she gets to follow along behind and look at the scenery - in exchange she provides moral support, perspective, advice, and everlasting friendship. (It's actually a good trade off - she edits too...) So off I go again into the jungle...

It's not discount that matters to me (it's just too bad that paying full price doesn't mean more money goes to you), it's shipping time. I ordered my copy this morning, upgraded to two-day delivery, yet it's still not going to arrive before the 20th. Arg! That's not two days! I don't know how I'm going to wait!
Yeah, why doesn't more money go to me... J/K Yep, it doesn't matter what price they charge, I still get the same amount.
And, no matter what I do with Paypal etc, my order fulfillment's going to be way slow comparatively (I gotta freaking write sometime) - and I won't be offering super saver shipping. But it will allow me to give people another alternative.
YOU should get the $$'s, YOU did all the work! Maybe this will work for Wolves when you are ready to publish. Take pre-orders for direct sales. I know just getting the book on order eased my mind a ton, got me off your back, you could do that for everyone, and they will love you even more for it. Just let the orders stack up till you are nearly ready and waiting for the proof. You can hire someone you trust to process them for you if you can't (I gotta agree here you NEED to keep writing, let lesser mortals do the grunt work). Even a teen can open envelopes and prepare receipts and do basic record keeping on the computer, even make deposits, make out shipping envelopes. Once the printed copies come in that person can prepare the orders for shipping and take them to UPS for you too. If I lived in Colorado I would have offered to take a week off of work to help you at least ship the pent up demand. I'd have done it for the thrill of working with a genius!
Not a bad idea, Jane! I know I would gladly volunteer to help with packaging and sending off copies of 'Wolves', and I'm sure others would as well, providing there was ample notice of the time and a nearby motel (and the opportunity to read a newly purchased copy of 'Wolves' once the daily work was done!) Since I work for myself, as long as sufficient notice is given, I can bully the family into overseeing my duties for a few days! I agree with you...'working with a genius' would be a thrill and an honor!
Wow... The RBW Series End Pre-Sale Packing Launch Party & Retreat Weekend! LOL. We might just have to plan that.
And what is this "working with a genius" crap? :)
No worries at all! At least Amazon updated the ETA on the package to the 19th/Monday. That's a day better, at least! :) Can't wait!
The RBW Series End Pre-Sale Packing Launch Party & Retreat Weekend...
*raises hand*
I'LL GO!! I'LL GO!!
Amazing books, fellow fans, and yes - Associating with genius. (Oh hush W - Just get used to it. *wink*)
On a more serious note, are you planning to attend any cons in the near future for those of us who like to fawn in person? You had mentioned advertising at Yaoi-Con at some point. I was wondering if you had decided on something more concrete?
Blue
Simple! There are too many aspects intertwined in your books to have been written be a simple or 'normal' mind. Therefore, you must be either an idiot-savant or genius. Since it is HIGHLY, HIGHLY unlikey you are the former, you should get used to people identifying you as the latter! Just go with it and enjoy!
My own personal copy was loaded on the truck in Oakland at 6:57 this am...WHERE THE HELL IS THAT TRUCK!!!! My husband won't let me stand on the porch, so I guess I should go and make some dinner, they certainly won't be getting anything home made tomorrow. BTW, as ellnessa said get used to the "genius" name calling....trust me, I've been called WAY WORSE!
I'm pleased to see that you've decided to do this. :-)
My thinking was that if Amazon was going to charge X amount, I might as well send that amount (or possibly less) straight to you. And I'd love to have an autographed copy of the book.
I'm okay with waiting. As much as I want Treasure in my hot little hands right NOW, I'm content knowing that I will get it eventually. *happy face*
Yeah, I bought the book at full price because I just can't stand waiting. However, if you decide to make more money on your fabulous writing and have that RBW packing party for the next book, that would be great!
Oh yes...please do not let anything stop you from writing. I beg you.

LOL, I'm up for The RBW Series End Presale Packing Launch Party and Retreat Weekend! Then I won't be the only fangirl/fanboy in the room! :D
The "end of series" bit troubles me...I'll hate to see it end. I keep hoping you will be inspired to keep going..five..six...seven? Perhaps you'll not know till you really get into four. I can't imagine saying good bye to these men. Having finished Treasure, I am speechless with wonder only because words fail me (lacking your talent for expression). The About the Author bit at the end was worth the price of the book and overnight shipping combined all by itself. I now feel the need to apologize for the "genius" comment earlier, I never meant to attempt to put you in any box, like I said words fail.
THANK YOU!
